Investing in Our Downtown
The Main Street Program is a worldwide program to revitalize downtown areas. The London Downtown Program began in 2004. Since then, there have been marked physical and financial improvements in the area. The Laurel County Courthouse has undergone an $8 million renovation/restoration project and the London Elementary School has invested over $11 million in their renovation project. In addition, the City of London was awarded a $500,000.00 grant to assist the design committee in developing a beautiful streetscape for downtown London.
The London Downtown organization is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. While the City of London supports the Main Street program by funding administrative costs and, all promotion, advertising and events are funded by the private sector through the Main Street Association. Both the City of London and the Laurel County Fiscal Court donate to our organization.
